We also offer Crystal Hypochlorite, which through a series of special filtering steps, produces a bleach solution of extraordinary qualityKey duties will include loading/unloading trucks, railcars and barges with a variety of chemical products. Chemical operators will run a small batch manufacturing operation within the terminal.Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):
- Load and unload barges, tank cars and tank trucks with a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
- Running a small batch manufacturing process.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of paperwork associated with the manufacturing/unloading/loading operations.
- Contribute to safety and quality meetings.
- Identify maintenance work and work with the Terminal or Manufacturing Supervisors to facilitate repairs as necessary.
- Perform incidental maintenance work on equipment as needed.
- Perform minor maintenance work on buildings and property as needed.
- General housekeeping of work area and other misc. duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Completed High School degree
- 0-4 Years of chemical manufacturing and/or distribution experience
- 1-5 Years of manufacturing or other heavy industrial experience
- Must be able to read/write/speak English
- Must be proficient in basic mathematics
- Must be able to pass a position based physical fitness test
Other Preferred Knowledge/Experience
- Experience with driving OTR trucks either on the road or in a plant environment
- Experience with Safety and/or Quality programs
- Experience handling Chlor-Alkali, flammable/combustible, petroleum or other hazardous materials
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Requires lifting and handling of heavy objects; must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to push, pull, sit, stand, crouch, reach, and have visual acuity
- Ability to climb ladders and storage tank stairs (approx. 50' in height) for maintenance, inspection, and gauging operations
- Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
- Able to run & help maintain process equipment
- Able to wear PPE (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, respirator and safety work boots) as required
