Chemical Operator to join our growing
Operations team! This position will report directly to the
Operations Shift Team Leader in our
Belle, WV location.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:- Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures, and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas
- Optimizing plant performance by monitoring process equipment and conditions using information systems including; process levels, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates
- Perform tasks assigned to operations as per a standard task list including field checks, equipment preparation, samples, laboratory analysis, etc.
- Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals
- Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems and maintain equipment reliability
- Perform immediate response activities and manage unplanned events
- Use process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating Discipline
- Use measurements and tools to operate the Plant at optimum conditions
- Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines
- Load and unload bulk shipping containers, including tank cars, tank wagons, drums, and totes, and ship per DOT requirements
- Act as an emergency responder on the Belle Emergency Response Team
The following is required for this role: - High School diploma, GED or equivalent
- A current and valid, state-issued driver's license
- Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others
- Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong reading comprehension and listening skills
- Strong multi-tasking, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic, discipline, and high attention to detail
The following is preferred for this role: - 2 or more years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing role OR Military Equivalent Experience
- Possess a degree or certificate from a college or technical school in Process Technology or Chemical Operations
Physical Requirements:- Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator (no facial hair), SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb stairs, reach overhead, lift up to 50lbs, and have excellent manual dexterity and visual acuity, with or without accommodation.
- Ability to work in a High Hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Ability to work rotating 12 hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as business needs require.
