From the farm to the fork, we assist customers at all points of the food supply chain in providing quality and safety to the products and processes.The Chemical Technician's serve an important function at Intertek Nutraceutical Services. Unlike many entry level positions, you will have the opportunity to work with several different methods expanding you understanding of acid/base titrations, component solubility, spectrographic assays, and method mechanics. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. What you'll do:Provides support for chemistsPrepares samples, standards and solutionsVolumetric/Gravimetric preparations and sample extractionSets up, adjusts, operates and calibrates basic laboratory equipment and instrumentsPerforms standard lab analyses under direct supervisionPrepares and documents test results in lab records, including notebooks, audit trails, standardized forms, and other documentationPerforms work in compliance with current procedures and regulationsPerforms general laboratory housekeeping dutiesCleans and maintains glassware and pipettesCleans laboratory equipment and instrumentsLog-out/in reagents and samplesComputer literate with common PC based applicationsMS Word, Excel and OutlookKnowledgeable in use of LIMSData acquisition programsHas basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, procedures, and regulationsWorks under immediate supervisionPerforms other duties or special projects as required or as assignedThis position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:Knowledge of analytical chemistryBA/BS Chemistry, Biology or related scientific degree0-2 years of related industry experience in an analytical laboratoryKnowledge of laboratory safety precautions and protocols for safe handling and the disposal of hazardous agents/reagents, chemicals and materialsOrganization, communication, and analytical skillsAbility to understand and effectively communicate technical and business information, both oral and written to others, including co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, clients, and vendorsIntermediate mathematical skills, including: algebraic functions, statistics (mean, median, standard deviation, variance, probability), basic geometry (area, volume calculations), and scientific calculatorsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
