Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
  • Chemical Testing and Analysis:
    • Perform tests to detect impurities, ensure quality, and confirm compliance with applicable regulations.
    • Conduct regular testing to identify the chemical composition of samples or products.
    • Record, compile, and interpret lab test results, correcting anomalies when necessary.
  • Equipment and Process Management:
    • Track inventory, prioritize orders, and maintain laboratory equipment.
    • Calibrate, repair, and sterilize lab equipment and work surfaces.
    • Monitor chemical processes, troubleshoot production issues, and meet with appropriate personnel to resolve challenges.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
    • Follow environmental regulations and review safety protocols published by OSHA and NFPA.
    • Prepare, store, and handle chemical solutions safely, ensuring adherence to specific temperature and handling requirements.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Document procedures for each test and produce graphical results for reporting to lab managers or senior personnel.
    • Maintain accurate records of findings, processes, and equipment maintenance.
  • Training and Knowledge Sharing:
    • Train new technicians on chemical processes and update team knowledge on advancements in chemical technology.
Qualifications
  • Educational Requirements:
    • Associate's degree (AS) in Chemistry or a related science field with a minimum of 12 semester hours in Chemistry.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Prior experience in boiler/water analysis and/or working in a water treatment plant.
    • Familiarity with mechanical parts and repair is advantageous.
    • Knowledge and experience in producing deionized water.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Proficient in laboratory instrumentation calibration and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques.
    • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Strong troubleshooting abilities for both chemical and mechanical processes.
    • Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations for chemical handling.
