THE POSITION
Calling all chemistry aficionados, the Division of Chemistry and Toxicology in the Bureau of Laboratories' has an exciting opening for a Chemist 3! Our mission is to provide investigatory, diagnostic, and confirmatory testing for both infectious and non-infectious diseases through accurate and timely analytical results on human and non-human specimens/samples in the areas of environmental health/biomonitoring. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Chemist 3, you will plan and assign training, oversee and conduct laboratory testing for biomonitoring/environmental health, and assist with toxicology and chemical terrorism preparedness. You must use various methodologies, instruments, and standard operating procedures to obtain accurate and legally-defensible results. Compliance is a crucial aspect of the work we do in the Division of Chemistry and Toxicology, and you will ensure that all laboratory testing and related work is documented appropriately and complies with all applicable state and federal regulations, internal policies, and laboratory standards. Your work will move our section toward attaining additional accreditation such as International Organization for Standardization (ISO), forensic accreditation, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). Work Schedule and Additional Information:
* Full-time employment
* Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Overtime is required as operationally necessary.
* Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 1 day per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Exton.
* Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
* One year as a Chemist 2; or
* Two years of professional chemical analytical experience, and a bachelor's degree that includes 30 credits in chemistry or biochemistry; or
* One year of professional chemical analytical experience, and a graduate degree in chemistry.
Condition of Employment:
* This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
