Our client in Chemicals Industry is seeking a Chemistry Lab Technician to join their team. The ideal candidate will have basic Wet Chemistry lab skills which will align successfully in the organization.Job Title: Lab technician IDuration: 6 Month Contract (possbility for extension or conversion)Location: Onsite - 3001 Channahan Road, Joliet, IL 60436Hours:12 hour shifts on a two week rotating schedule,This is the overnight shift 6pm - 6amSummary:
  • The main function of a lab technician is to perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
  • A typical lab technician may work under the supervision of a medical technologist.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform repetitive, basic laboratory testing on multiple types of products produced at the plant
  • Perform basic laboratory testing on incoming raw materials
  • Report testing results in the SAP (our electronic data base) accurately
  • Make basic dispositions regarding products/raw materials based on the results of testing
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment, performing basic upkeep of both working areas and laboratory equipment
  • Perform basic maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment
  • Prepare laboratory reagents and runs any method assurances required
  • Perform additional testing and investigation when required
  • Safely collect samples for testing outside of the laboratory when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for everyone
Skills:
  • Laboratory experience (coursework/occupational)
  • Basic Wet Chemistry skills
  • Basic Lab skills, some familiarity with basic lab equipment
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with specific instrumentation, such as HPLC, UV-VIS, GC
  • Experience with using software for data acquisition and analysis
Education/Experience:
  • A minimum of an associate degree in a related field (e.g. chemistry, biology, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 0-2 years experience required.
