Location: Tyler,TX, USA
This position oversees the preparation of materials for laboratory courses (principally upper-division courses) in the Department of Chemistry. Specific duties include: ordering and managing the chemical stock required for assigned lab courses; maintaining prep areas for teaching laboratories; preparing chemicals and solutions for student use; managing glassware, instrumentation, and equipment (including lab computers); working with faculty to develop and implement new experimental procedures; hiring and supervising student workers; collaborating with instructional faculty and course area coordinators; and supporting research laboratories.
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a closely related field. If a candidate has multiple degrees, at least one of the candidate's degrees must be in chemistry or a closely related field.
* Two years of experience working in a laboratory with substantial responsibility for preparing solutions, working with diverse chemicals, and operating laboratory equipment. Experience obtained as a graduate teaching assistant or graduate research assistant could contribute to satisfying this requirement.
* A demonstrated commitment to education in the sciences and the ability to oversee student workers.
* The ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders, including instructional faculty, student workers, supervisors, and staff colleagues across campus.
* A strong commitment to organized and safe work in chemical laboratories.
Preferred:
* Master's degree in chemistry or closely related field.
* Three or more years of experience working in a chemistry laboratory.
* Experience supervising student workers or other employees.
