Chief Administrative Officer
Job Overview: The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at Clara Maass Medical Center (CMMC) will develop, execute, and drive the hospital s strategic and operational plan, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives, while also addressing local community population and patient needs. The CAO will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the hospital and work closely with other senior leaders to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of exceptional, patient centered care and safe, high-quality access and outcomes.
Reports to: The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at CMMC reports directly to the Executive Vice President, President, Northwest Region.
Qualifications:
* Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare administration, business administration or other related discipline
* Minimum of 10 years of healthcare experience, including five years of executive leadership within a community hospital that is a member organization of a larger, multi-hospital system
* Proven track record of success in hospital and/ service line operations
* Prior experience leading within a matrixed organizational structure and managing physician relationships
* Experience with budgeting and financial planning processes
Essential Functions:
* Achieve the highest level of performance in CMMC operating units. Establish, monitor, and manage strategies to ensure productivity, operational and financial performance, and patient throughput
* Develop strategic initiatives necessary to integrate and expand services, as well, as add potential new services to meet the growing healthcare needs of the RWJBarnabas Health community
* Enhance the quality, access, safety, and efficiency of patient services and increase patient satisfaction with a focus on performance excellence and high reliability
* Leverage technology and data to continually measure results, improvements, and successes through key performance metrics
* Work collaboratively with senior leaders to align clinical practice, safety, value-based initiatives, hospital, network, and system goals
* Collaborate on managing revenue cycle, including billing services, ensuring appropriateness and timeliness of reimbursement, maintenance of policies and procedures related to professional and hospital fees, billing practices and data standards, monitor performance of internal billing processes
* Oversee the hospital's financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and achieving financial targets
* Foster robust, meaningful, and mutually beneficial relationships with community partners and physician members. This includes representing the hospital and system in local and national organizations and helping to recruit and retain high-quality physicians
* In collaboration with Human Resources, recruit, develop, retain, and enhance employee engagement and foster a culture of collaboration and enthusiasm
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including accreditation standards, Joint Commission regulations, and HIPAA guidelines
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Established business sense
* Strong business insight, sophisticated knowledge of healthcare funding, and experience in competitive marketplaces with the ability to make complex and difficult decisions
* Knowledge of healthcare regulations, laws, and industry trends
* Ability to operate in a matrixed organization
* Highly developed communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, particularly with physicians and executives
* Leadership of high-performing teams
* A record of recruiting, training, and mentoring employees. A reputation for sustained inclusive, trust-based physician relations through understanding of physician viewpoints and needs
* Skill using and analyzing information systems to quickly recommend opportunities for optimization and efficiency
* Facilitates a shared understanding of objectives that enable teams to set and meet goals.
* Effectively collaborates and operates as a change agent
* Promotes collaboration and partnership among multiple parties inside CMMC and RWJBarnabas Health
* Builds and leverages a network of relationships that are important to the organization and its stakeholders
