POSITION OVERVIEW: The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) serves as a strategic advisor and leader, overseeing and ensuring the efficient operation of key administrative functions within the Watershed Protection Department. Reporting directly to the Office of the Director, the CAO is responsible for providing leadership to the Human Resources, Administrative Services, Safety Resources & Emergency Management, Department Executive Assistant, and Request for Council Actions (RCA)/Council Item Update Report (CIUR) Coordination sections/programs. This position plays a pivotal role in aligning departmental policies, resources, and processes with the organization's mission and goals, fostering a culture of operational excellence, compliance, and service delivery. The CAO ensures cross-functional coordination, promotes employee development, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to support the department's commitment to watershed protection, safety, and community service.

ABOUT YOUR EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION (Please read carefully): When completing the City of Austin Employment Application:
Pay Range: $48.38 – $62.90
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday with the ability for a 60% telework schedule per week after initial training period. Exceptions may apply subject to the business needs of the department. May require working outside of normal business hours, including emergency events, evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business needs.
