JOB SUMMARY
The chief compliance officer (CCO) plays a critical role in ensuring that the bank adheres to internal policies and external regulations. This leadership position involves identifying compliance risks, developing procedures to manage these risks and ensuring bank staff are properly trained with respect to all applicable Federal and State rules and regulations.
The chief compliance officer will develop and maintain the bank's Compliance Management System in order to identify and manage overall risk management strategy of the bank. This officer should be knowledgeable of current regulatory requirements and inform all affected bank personnel of upcoming changes and/or guidance which may impact the risk profile of the bank.
Responsibilities
- Lead a risk-based bankwide compliance program to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and rules governing the bank's operations, product and service offerings.
- Ensures that the bank has an effective Compliance Management System that satisfies the bank's compliance risk management obligation under the FDIC and other applicable regulatory guidance.
- Oversee the Community Reinvestment Act and Fair Lending programs and provide support to the CRA Officer.
- Coordinate regulatory compliance examinations and internal audits to provide assistance and support to management and internal audit.
- Coordinate with the BSA Officer and review BSA related monitoring reports, policies, risk assessment and procedures. Participate on the SAR committee.
- Develop and manage periodic monitoring schedule based on current risks and regulatory environment. Coordinate with the compliance assistant to ensure periodic monitoring activities are completed and the results properly reported to the appropriate committee and/or board of directors.
Requirements
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager certification required and maintained by completing continued education training requirements
- 5-10+ years of experience in bank compliance or equivalent degree in finance.
- Strong background in strategic planning and project management, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of general banking operations, guidelines, and regulatory compliance regulations.
- Directly supervises the compliance department and coordinates with BSA Officer for supervision of the overall compliance functions.
- Able to make appropriate judgments based on bank policy and procedures. Able to show commitment to bank values through behavior and leadership.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
