Extraordinary Projects need Exceptional Talent Description: As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a visionary Chief Data Officer (CDO) to assist our data strategy and AI initiatives, empowering our teams and projects to unlock new efficiencies and insights. As the Chief Data Officer (CDO) at Tutor Perini Corporation, you will report to the VP of Information Technology/CIO and be responsible for developing and executing Tutor Perini's enterprise-wide data strategy, with a focus on harnessing the power of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to drive business outcomes. This executive-level role will work closely with senior leadership to embed data-driven decision-making and AI-enabled processes across the organization. The CDO will lead efforts to improve operational efficiency, enhance project management, and optimize resource utilization through innovative data and AI solutions tailored to the construction industry. This executive role requires a hands-on leader with deep expertise in data science, AI, project & portfolio management, and digital transformation, ideally with experience in the construction or engineering industries. The CDO will be responsible for developing a future-ready data infrastructure while fostering innovation across all areas of the company, including project management, risk mitigation, supply chain optimization, and operational excellence. Strategic Leadership and Vision: Develop and execute an enterprise data strategy that aligns with Tutor Perini's long-term business objectives and market positioning. Lead the company's AI strategy, focusing on data analytics, machine learning, and automation to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve project timelines. Build partnerships with executives, divisional leaders, and project managers to ensure that data and AI solutions support strategic goals across all levels of the organization. Data Strategy & Governance: Oversee the design and implementation of robust data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, accessibility, consistency, and privacy. Establish enterprise data management practices to ensure data integrity and compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including construction and state and federal contract requirements. Create a comprehensive data architecture that supports real-time data integration and analytics to optimize construction project management, resource allocation, and financial performance. AI-Driven Innovation: Lead initiatives to integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning across the organization, including predictive analytics, project risk management, and automation of repetitive tasks. Spearhead AI projects that enhance construction processes, with a focus on improving project forecasting, supply chain optimization, quality control, and resource scheduling. Identify new opportunities for AI-based innovations in construction technologies (e.g., automated UAV/drone site analysis, real-time project monitoring, and Virtual/Augmented/Extended Reality for construction design and assembly). Develop AI-based models to deliver insights that drive business outcomes, such as reducing project delays, optimizing costs, and improving safety protocols. Operational Excellence through Data and AI: Drive the implementation of data-driven processes across construction, procurement, and engineering teams to improve decision-making and operational efficiency. Identify opportunities for process automation and optimization using AI and robotic process automation (RPA) tools to enhance project delivery and cost management. Ensure that data and AI systems deliver measurable value by monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and aligning with industry benchmarks. Data Analytics and Business Intelligence: Lead the development of advanced analytics platforms to provide actionable insights into project performance, cost management, and workforce utilization. Collaborate with project managers to deploy real-time dashboards that track construction project metrics, including timelines, budgets, and risks. Leverage data analytics to identify trends, anticipate project risks, and optimize resource allocation for large-scale infrastructure projects. Team Leadership & Development: Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists, AI/ML engineers, data engineers, and business analysts to execute the company's data and AI strategy. Foster a data-driven culture across the enterprise, ensuring that employees at all levels understand the value of data and are empowered to make informed decisions. Develop a talent pipeline by mentoring and training data professionals to support Tutor Perini's growth and innovation goals. Transformation and Change Management: Cultivate a culture of transformation within the data and AI functions, encouraging the adoption of new tools and technologies to drive continuous improvement. Lead change management efforts to ensure the successful integration of AI solutions into Tutor Perini's operations and foster a data-driven mindset throughout the organization. Stay at the forefront of data and AI innovations, ensuring that Tutor Perini is leveraging cutting-edge technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the construction industry. Requirements: U.S. Citizenship is required. Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Professional certifications in AI, Data Science, Project Management, and Process Improvement (PMP, Agile, Lean Six Sigma) are highly desirable. 15+ years of leadership experience in IT, data science, analytics, or digital transformation, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role. Proven track record of implementing AI and machine learning solutions within large-scale organizations, preferably within construction, engineering, or a related industry. Demonstrated expertise in leading enterprise-wide data and analytics programs, fostering a data-driven culture. Experience managing large, multi-disciplinary teams, including IT professionals, business unit leaders, project managers, AI/ML specialists, and analysts. Previous experience integrating AI technologies into existing operational systems to drive significant performance improvements. Experience managing vendors, contracts, and cost accounts over $10M. Enterprise-level Program or Portfolio Management experience. Expertise in AI/ML technologies, data platforms, cloud computing, and advanced analytics tools (e.g., CoPilot, OpenAI, Power BI, Databricks, AWS, Azure). Deep understanding of enterprise data governance, compliance, and security protocols. Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Ability to translate complex data and AI concepts into strategic business opportunities, fostering innovation and competitive advantage. Strong knowledge of construction industry trends, with the ability to apply AI solutions to project management, supply chain logistics, and construction technologies.
