Job Type Full-time Description POSITION SUMMARY The primary focus of the Chief Dental Clinical and Educational Integration Officer (herein CDCEIO ) will be the practice of comprehensive oral health, including examining, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans for teeth infections and injuries of the teeth and mouth and carrying out the treatment plan in a competent and efficient manner. The position will also involve planning, developing, growing, implementing, sustaining, teaching and supervising in any and all oral health education programming with The Wright Center for Community Health including partnerships with academic partners , and regional hospital and specialist partners. The CDCEIOf will function as the clinical leader for dental services, as well as provide oversight and direction to all dentists and staff. The position will consistently work to ensure that the mission and goals of the Wright Center organization are realized, and will support the positioning of The Wright Center for Community Health in both the local and regional community as a role model for robust, comprehensive, quality patient-centered care and services, professional operations, business integrity and financial stewardship. The CDCEIO will collaborate with management to lead the development and implementation of organizational and business strategies of the dental service line as well as new oral health initiatives and related objectives. In so doing, this position will:
- Collaborate with administration on the development and reassessment of the dental service line overall strategic plan (including any and all education programming), vision, process compliance and improvement, as well as clinical and educational outcomes.
- Co-Lead with management the ongoing development of operational plans, budgets, and goals of the service line.
- Implement tactics and lead the clinic to achieve operational and financial goals set and agreed with TWCCH and TWCGME.

- Communicate TWCCH's dental policies and provide counsel to dentists.

- Clinical Leadership
- Provide supervision for care delivery and educational processes.
- Advise senior management, Board of Directors, and other departments on dental policy and clinical matters.
- Represent TWCCH at dental conferences and meetings.
- Provide input on provider reimbursement fee adjustments.
- Conduct presentations on oral health topics.
- Director School-Based and Mobile Oral Health Initiatives
- Identify, develop and execute partnerships to develop compressive school-based dental programs within TWCCH footprint as well as other school districts.
- Lead community collaboration and partnerships between schools and health providers to ensure programs meets the needs of the students and their families
- Work with schools to develop an efficient program that contributes to the learning environment
- Identify the level of oral health services needed and design an appropriate program
- Identify and secure funding to ensure program stability
- Ensure compliance with state and local policy that may impact provision of services
- Develop and seek opportunities for dental pop-up clinics and Driving Better Health (DBH) events in order to bring oral health services to the community
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned by the Chief Medical Information Officer
- May perform routine administrative tasks as needed.
Dentist Responsibilities
- Strive to meet the unmet met needs and satisfaction with oral health services among patients.
- Evaluate patients' intraoral and peri-oral hard and soft tissue condition, including caries, endodontic/periodontal pathology, soft tissue and developmental pathology
- Diagnose and treat Emergency Dental situations such as toothaches, broken teeth/restorations, dislodged crown/bridges, broken off denture teeth, etc.
- Develop patient treatment plan, including Preventative, Endodontic, Periodontal, Restorative, Prosthetic and follow up care.
- Refer out complex Endodontic, Surgical and Periodontal treatment; perform and complete the remaining portion of treatment plan .
- Facilitate maximum components of treatment plans that can be completed in house
- Perform proficiently amalgam and composite restorations, single and double canal Endodontic therapy, extraction of erupted teeth and roots (either routinely or simple surgical procedures) prophylaxis, periodontal scaling and root planing.
- Perform oral surgery procedures, which may include simple extractions, surgical extractions involving impacted third molars, laying a flap, and/or sectioning of teeth, bone graft and socket preservation procedures, basic osseous contouring and alveoloplasty procedures, and simple implant placement.
- Perform pediatric dentistry with and without Nitrous Oxide (this will include Preventative, Restorative and Surgical care on cooperative children) Plan and perform space maintainers and Removable single tooth movement appliances.
- Participate in conducting medical resident didactics to provide education on dental hygiene in relation to primary care.
- Maintain flexibility to practice at other TWC dental clinics site, including the mobile clinic, when necessary.
- Provide forty (40) hours of billable clinical time, (90 slots per week)
- Participate in holiday, weekend, and call rotation, as needed to meet the needs of the patients and community.
Educational Integration
- Program Development and Maintenance - Explores, recommends, develops, implements, and evaluates best practices in oral health workforce programming in an FQHC environment to ensure effective workforce development for TWCCH and regional oral health services. This includes the development of needed hospital and specialist relationships that result in relevant accreditation success and maintenance for any given program.
- Provides input and support for oral health education program development and improvements/modifications to reflect best findings from oral health education programming across the country.
- Provide timely oral health leadership guidance and professional advice on specific trainee and program issues, clinical integration opportunities and gaps, and other issues that may arise.
- Participate in any and all education program meetings as needed and/ or requested
- Oversee all sponsored projects, research projects, and related teams of faculty and trainees
- Programmatic Compliance - Develops, implements, evaluates, and recommends controls to satisfy operational/compliance risk requirements, ensure data integrity and best practices. Keeps current regulations and compliance issues that may impact the education programs.
- Continuously raises expectations and performance levels without sacrificing procedural and data integrity.
- Leads policy and procedure development through to implementation for education programs in alignment with programmatic, accreditation, and TWCCH requirements, goals, and objectives.
- Provide program outcomes analysis for executive team reviews. Presents as necessary to senior management, the TWCCH Board of Directors, TWCCH Board committees, and elsewhere as requested.
- Promote and contribute to resident and staff engagement in PDSA Design and Implementation for a culture of excellence and continuous Quality Improvement in the system of care delivery and primary care education in conjunction with Dental Operations Manager.
- Actively seeks out and engages with faculty and leadership development, scholarship, and related opportunities for self and others in TWCCH oral health education programs.

- Supervises/Manages personnel and trainees as outlined in program requirements and/ or as needed per academic partnerships.
- Assists with academic team building and overseeing all education in dental service line

- In concert with Director Dental Operations develops and manages the department's annual budget in alignment with education program goals and objectives and ensures their alignment with TWCCH goals for oral health excellence and sustainability
- Responsible for the fiscal sustainability of education programs by managing P & L, staffing, scheduling, training time, admin time, et al
- Actively engages with Grants and Strategic Initiatives in locating and leading sponsored programs as relevant
- AEGD program
- Under the oversight of the Site Director:
- Supervise, manage, monitor, and mentor AEGD residents as requested as they develop and work through the clinical educational goals of the program including patient treatment plans, the application and integration of knowledge, skills and values in delivering general dental care and treatment to patients of all ages
- Develop resident remediation plans as required in collaboration with Clinic and Program Directors
- Review and approve resident treatment plans, progress notes, and coordination of specialist care
- Support the NYU Langone Dental AEGD program accreditation process
- Actively engage in the training of program staff and faculty to achieve clinical collaboration for resident experiences, competencies and assessment
- Participate in the resident interview and admissions process as requested
Requirements REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Graduate from an accredited Dental School/Doctoral Degree (DDS/DMD)
- A valid unrestricted licensed to practice dentistry by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry
- A current conscious sedation (Nitrous Oxide sedation) license is required
- At least two years' experience practicing dentistry in a practice
- DEA certificate
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum of 5 -10 years professional/management level experience in the accepted standards of dental treatment, including developments in dental materials and treatment modalities. Prefer previous experience in dental private practice, knowledge, and experience in processing dental claims, and prior dental consultant experience
- Knowledge of modern dental science practices, utilization review techniques, data/ statistical analysis, practice protocols, and ADA issues
- Demonstrated significant knowledge of trends & issues, laws & regulations related to the delivery of high-quality dental care services.
- Demonstrated success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence, including civic leaders, charitable agencies, fundraising sources, etc.
