Headquartered in Lakeshore Center in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Claremont Companies is a privately owned and closely held real estate investment, development and asset management firm. Today, Claremont owns in excess of 60 real estate assets consisting of hotels, apartments, retail centers, and office buildings with plans to expand even further. Claremont is growing and we're looking to add a Chief Engineer to our team to support our Homewood Suites by Hilton - Boston, Brookline location. This role is responsible for maintaining the overall operation of the maintenance department and appearance/working order of the hotel and we would love to add you to our team!

  • Conduct walk through and visually assess the safety and efficiency of maintenance and operation of the physical structure of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain an attractive property.
  • Manage all rehabilitation, expansion and special projects.
  • Maintain organized and efficient administrative and filing systems. Maintain a well-defined and organized system within the shop for the inventory, maintenance and storage of all tools, products, materials and equipment necessary to execute the required activities of the department.
  • Assign, verify and participate in the completion of all routine maintenance in public spaces, meetings rooms, outlet, back of the house spaces and grounds. Assign and verify completion of all repairs, replacement and renovation projects to offices, public spaces, guest rooms and employee work areas.
  • Hire, train, supervise and discipline departmental staff and all independent contractors under the direction of property operations, such as painters, upholsterers and groundskeepers.
  • Adhere to corporate required purchasing policies and controls to include outside contractor bids, budgets and schedules. Maintain appropriate supply of material and equipment to carry out the normal day-to-day operating and maintenance requirements of the hotel.
  • Maintain effective energy management and preventative maintenance programs, and when necessary, conduct special training for other departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.
  • Responsible for the overall preventive maintenance program for all guest rooms, public spaces, and all hotel equipment. Setting high standards in order to maintain above-brand guest satisfaction scores.
  • Report regularly to the GM, the specific and overall condition of the building structure, related systems and equipment offering cost effective proposals for maintenance.
  • Secure fully executed copies of Claremont's Standard Agreement with Subcontractors and Service Providers when appropriate.
Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • One to three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Associates degree or Certification in Building Maintenance a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, coworkers, vendors and customers.
  • Experience with hotel building maintenance a plus
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with guests, vendors, co-workers and management.
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical systems, components and devices, HVAC systems, boilers, mechanical systems and the maintenance and repair of all.
  • Excellent knowledge of public construction and building systems and codes; all related permits, licenses and existing codes pertaining to public building and fire safety.
  • Positive communication skills with associates and vendors.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders or use a Man-Lift to work at heights up to 30 feet, often reaching overhead.
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling in possibly in tight situations.
  • Ability to delegate effectively.
