About the Role of CFM Chief Engineer:

The Chief Engineer is the dynamic technical leader at the helm of our CFM team which oversees the maintenance, operation, and repair of state-of-the-art data center equipment. With a focus on electrical power delivery and cooling infrastructure, you'll ensure our systems run smoothly 24/7 - supporting the uninterrupted uptime of our customer-facing workloads. The ideal candidate will insist on the highest standards and will maintain a proactive and forward-thinking approach to anticipate and address customer needs.

You'll lead and support a team of 10+ of CFM Engineering staff, providing hands-on training in electrical and mechanical maintenance and repair on over 75MW of critical IT capacity. Chief Engineers will also spearhead medium to large-scale capital projects through collaboration with diverse teams such as construction, engineering, and controls. You'll take charge of site metrics like uptime and maintenance compliance, working closely with the Facility Manager and site leadership. Plus, as a key contributor, you'll play an essential role in developing policies and processes that drive our business's growth and success.

About the Critical Facilities Maintenance (CFM) Team:

Critical Facilities Maintenance (CFM) is comprised of the onsite team members that maintain the power delivery, cooling and general building infrastructure on behalf of our customers ensuring that their services are available without interruption on a continuous (24/7) basis. As a member of the CFM team, you will have the opportunity to lead and manage the maintenance and repair of equipment including Electrical Switchgear, Uninterruptable Power Supplies, Transformers, Batteries, Generators, Chillers, Air Handlers, Fire/Life Safety Equipment and more! Additionally, CFM will also support 5C's growth through support of new installations and capital projects. The CFM team will work along-side diverse team members including controls engineers, project managers, business development, logistics, construction, and security personnel to accomplish 5C's ambitious growth strategy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Technical (Military/Trade School) training or degree in a relevant field (for example: electrical, mechanical).

- 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.

- 2+ years of critical facilities maintenance experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of critical facilities experience in data centers.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial maintenance, or other related field of study.

- Former experience in a leadership role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Walk job sites in uneven terrain.

- Work at heights and from ladders.

- Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.

- Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration.

- Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment

- Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance

- Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working

- Perform physical tasks /manual labor for long periods of time during shifts

- Use hands to manipulate small wires and objects

- Push or pull heavy objects into position

- Work in a noisy environment with using proper hearing protection

- Work at depths, such as under raised floors

WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

-The CFM Chief Engineer role is classified as exempt (salaried).

-Will generally work between 40-45 hours per week during normal business hours and will observe all holidays designated by 5C.

- Will be expected to participate in the site CFM on-call rotating schedule – answering phone calls and arriving onsite during non-business hours (night shift, weekends, and holidays) events when warranted or at management's discretion during periods when they are designated as the on-call contact.
