Job Description:

Job Summary:Laydon, is a family owned and operated excavating & paving company since 1944 providing Underground Construction and Utility Support Services throughout the state of Connecticut. We strive to maintain quality workmanship and provide a safe work environment for our employees and general public.

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Chief Financial Officer position. This person will work closely with company ownership, and be a leader to the organization. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in a Finance/Accounting leadership role, and have a good knowledge of utility and construction operations.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting-

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Ensure the company's financial reports are accurate and completed on time.

Financial Planning-

  • Create forecasts for future growth, track cash flow, analyze the company's financial strengths and weaknesses, propose corrective action.
  • Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization.
  • Help shape portfolio strategies and make major investment and financing decisions.
  • Manage budget, ensure effective utilization of financial resources to enhance profitability and growth.

Risk Management-

  • Perform risk management by analyzing the organization's liabilities and investments, decide on investment strategies that consider cash and liquidity risks.

Strategic Direction-

  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the company, ensuring a strong return on investment (ROI).

Management of Workforce-

  • Oversee the accounting department, develop and manage direct staff.

Communication-

  • Communicate with key stakeholders to facilitate cross-department collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • 8 – 10 years' experience in financial management required
  • Construction industry experience highly preferred
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation highly preferred
  • Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues and tax planning
  • Excellent leadership skills with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Exceptional verbal, written and visual communication skills
  • Great organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge and experience working with Construction Accounting software
