Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Western, NY

JK Executive Strategies has been retained to identify a new CFO to be a senior member of the executive management team of a well-respected manufacturing firm in the Western, NY area. The qualified candidate must possess a proven track record with extensive experience as a manufacturing finance leader, preferably within the consumer goods category.

The CFO will report to the President/CEO and will be responsible for all financial leadership, treasury, accounting, legal, and information technology functions. The successful candidate will be a strategic individual who can also balance hands-on duties and forge strong internal and external partnerships to help drive an already growth-oriented culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Directing all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting.
  • Providing strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.
  • Analyzing the company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with and development of budgets/forecasts. Issue regular status and ad-hoc reports to senior management and the Board of Directors. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
  • Managing cash flow at a detailed level, including coordination with lending institutions on the borrowing base underlying the line of credit.
  • Leading banking relations, including day-to-day operating activities, as well as credit and loan activities and reporting requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Oversee contract bookkeeper.
  • Coordination of all legal activities with attorneys including litigation and intellectual property matters.
  • Managing relationships with insurance brokers/providers, including coordination of annual policy renewals and any claims thereto, and ensuring compliance.
  • Coordination of corporate consolidation in accordance with US GAAP on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including annual audit by outside CPA firm.
  • Joint management with an outside CPA firm of all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes.
  • Interacting with the Board of Directors at regular meetings, and on an ad-hoc basis regarding projects or any questions that may arise.
  • Other finance and administrative duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required. CPA/CMA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Substantial and successful leadership experience (at least 10 years) in finance, accounting, and information technology in a manufacturing company environment.
  • Substantive experience in the standard cost accounting function, including allocation of corporate and multi-plant overhead costs in establishing machine level and product standard costs.
  • Substantive experience in general ledger and financial accounting as well as functions of accounts receivable, credit and collections, accounts payable, sales operations and customer invoicing, and financial reporting.
  • Recent experience scaling a multi-location manufacturing operation, including international considerations, with at least $150 million in annual revenues.
  • Experience in information technology management including networking concepts in a virtual technology, multi-plant environment, file backups, and disaster recovery plans. In addition, must be proficient in managing and driving efficiencies through ERP systems.
  • Experience in M&A activities including due diligence activities, purchase negotiations, and bank financing.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced hands-on environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time.

Salary Range:

$230K to $265K annually + variable compensation
