Mission: To instill a passion for academic, artistic, and athletic excellence, while committing to personal integrity, mutual respect, and lifelong learning.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time year-round administrative position, member of the leadership team who reports directly to the Head of School. Major responsibilities include overseeing strategic direction and implementation for the non-academic support functions of the school including human resources, budgeting, financial reporting, finances, insurance and risk management, and rentals. The CFO is a member of the Senior Administrative Team and attends all Finance Committee meetings. Occasionally, the CFO may be asked to attend Board meetings and will work closely with the Chair of the Finance Committee.QUALIFYING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CREDENTIALS:
  • Experience as a CFO or equivalent, preferably in independent schools and/or non-profits.
  • Minimum requirement is a BA/BBA, with an MBA and/or CPA certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding financial reporting and compliance for Independent Schools.
  • Provide leadership with respect to the annual audit.
  • Provide strategic and creative leadership in creating and managing multi-million-dollar budgets, bond and other financing vehicles, human resources policy, and risk management positioning; prepare and manage school-wide and departmental budgets.
  • Collaborative leadership style and management skills, including the abilities to plan strategically, initiate and implement change, and engage the talents of others productively and collaboratively.
  • Capable of building and creating a shared vision and team for the Business Office, leading a business team to include AP, AR, and HR departments.
  • Support faculty and staff and embrace and appreciate the opportunities to be immersed in the school community and the external community.
  • Familiarity with current and applicable business software platforms and a willingness to learn Blackbaud and independent school financial aid programs.
  • Work with schools' vendors and financial institutions.
  • Track and properly allocate school accounts to include operations, reserves, and endowment.
  • A person of integrity, honesty, and impeccable character who possesses good listening skills, excellent communication skills in all areas, courage to make difficult and/or unpopular decisions when needed, a strong work ethic, a sense of humor, flexibility, optimism, creativity, high expectations, and a growth mindset.
