Chief Financial Officer - beginning with the 2025-2026 school year

Job Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as the primary financial advisor to the district and is responsible for managing all financial activities of the district in compliance with Illinois School Code, Board Policy, and generally accepted accounting principles for governmental fund accounting. This role includes budget development, financial reporting, and strategic planning to support the educational mission of the district. Qualifications:
* Advanced Degree (Masters or Ed.D) in Business or School Business Management/School Administration
* Valid Illinois Chief School Business Official (CSBO) endorsement preferred
* Proven experience in financial management, preferably in an educational setting
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
* Proficient in financial software and reporting tools
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and monitor the district's financial plans and policies.
* Prepare and present monthly and yearly financial reports, including budget forecasts and variances.
* Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, grants, accounting, payroll, insurance/benefits, and procurement.
* Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAPP).
* Collaborate with school leaders to support program funding and resource allocation.
* Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and financial institutions.
* Supervise the finance team, providing training and support as needed.
* Prepare reports and claims necessary to secure reimbursements from state funds including such items as State Aid Program, Special Education Program, school lunches, and other state and federal grant programs.
* Analyze financial data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
* Participate in strategic planning initiatives to align financial resources with educational goals and to continue to achieve financial recognition.
* Participates in the collective bargaining process as a member of the school board's negotiating team.
* Attends all regular meetings of the Board of Education and other meetings, as requested.
* Respond to residents and organizations who seek information about District 2 including requests under the Freedom of Information Act.
* Develop and present the annual tax levy for Superintendent and Board approval.
* Assign and supervise programs of facilities maintenance, improvements, and expansion in collaboration with the Buildings and Grounds Manager.
* Supervise and implement the Life, Health Safety Plans for the District.
* Administer the arrangement for rental and use of buildings and other properties.
* Administer acquisition and disposal of school property and assets.
* Coordinate and administer the cafeteria services and the school lunch program in accordance with federal and state guidelines. (procurement of contracted services)
* Direct and supervise the transportation routes and planning for all pupils in collaboration with the Transportation Coordinator.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Physical Demands:
* Ability to read, interpret, and communicate effectively with district employees and vendors.
* Capability to apply critical thinking to address problems using written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
* The job requires regular use of hands, walking, talking, hearing, and the ability to operate office equipment.
* Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are essential.
* Occasional lifting, pulling, or pushing of items up to 20 pounds may be required.

Work Year: Twelve Months with salary and benefits set by the Board of Education through contract
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated at least annually by the Superintendent.
