We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a rapidly growing, $100 million ecommerce and distribution business specializing in consumer goods. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations, including strategic planning, budgeting, financial reporting, treasury, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and accounting management. The CFO will lead and manage a team consisting of a Controller, Staff Accountant, and Accounting Coordinator, and will play a key role in shaping the financial strategy and growth of the business.
About the Role - Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute the company's financial strategy.
- Provide strategic guidance on key financial decisions, including pricing, capital structure, investments, and business acquisitions.
- Lead efforts for operational improvements, cost optimization, and long-term profitability strategies.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
- Oversee the preparation and management of the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Analyze financial performance against budget and forecasts, and provide insights on business trends and opportunities.
- Develop financial models to assess business performance, cash flow, and ROI for growth initiatives.
Treasury & Cash Management:
- Manage company cash flow and liquidity to ensure operational flexibility.
- Oversee banking relationships, investments, and debt management.
- Ensure availability of working capital while maintaining a solid balance sheet.
Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry standards.
- Supervise the Controller in managing month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting, providing information for key business decisions.
- Provide board-level reports and presentations on financial performance and strategy.
Team Management & Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, including the Controller, Staff Accountant, and Accounting Coordinator.
- Foster a high-performance culture focusing on development, collaboration, and operational excellence.
- Ensure effective internal controls and accounting systems to safeguard assets and promote efficiency.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards.
- Manage audits, internal controls, and reporting processes.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, including market, credit, and operational risks.
Mergers, Acquisitions, & Capital Raising:
- Lead in identifying and evaluating mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures to drive growth.
- Support fundraising efforts, including preparing for debt and equity financing and investor relations.
Technology & Process Optimization:
- Oversee selection and implementation of financial software and systems to enhance reporting and streamline operations.
- Evaluate and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure scalability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
- CPA or CFA certification (or equivalent) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, ideally in ecommerce, distribution, or consumer goods.
- Strong expertise in financial management, treasury, FP&A, budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting.
- Proven experience in managing a team and working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Deep understanding of financial modeling, cash flow management, and reporting systems.
- Experience with M&A, capital raising, and risk management strategies.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
