SUMMARY

Responsible for leading, planning and overseeing all financial and fiscal management aspects of the organization's operations. Provide leadership and coordination in the information technology, continuous improvement, business planning, accounting and budgeting, and financial investments of the organization. Direct, with overall responsibility for, internal controls, forecasts, financial reporting, financial planning, compliance and budgetary controls as well as treasury management and banking. Leads team of accounting, IT, and continuous improvement staff to reach organizational goals and provide excellent internal and external customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Oversee the preparation and control of the organization's budgets and forecasts, in alignment with strategic plans.
  • Develop and analyze statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results.
  • Establish effective budgeting systems and reporting mechanisms for operating and capital needs.
  • Serve as an active and engaged member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Provide financial information and support to management and the Board in the formulation and execution of strategic plans.
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ensure Charity Navigator, Guidestar and Cleveland Better Business Bureau are updated annually.
  • Ensure effective financial and information technology internal controls for the organization.
  • Ensure compliance and accurate reporting with the food bank's Regulatory/Compliance Reporting Policy.
  • Complete financial analyses of organizational cash flow, investment strategies, and debt management.
  • Provide strategic staff support for the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board.
  • Work directly with the Finance Committee to develop and maintain effective Investment Policies.
  • Work with the Audit Committee and our auditors to ensure a thorough annual auditing process.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational personnel.
  • Ensure that the organization's professional reputation is maintained.
  • Provide overall leadership and supervision to the Accounting and Information Technology departments.
  • Maintain required job knowledge, skills, and core professional competencies.
  • Act as a resource to the Feeding America network.
  • Actively support and champion initiatives aimed at driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises two supervisory employees; Director of Information Technology and Controller. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Management. MBA preferred. CPA preferred. Ten or more years of high-level accounting experience. Five or more years of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous accounting experience with a nonprofit or public accounting firm preferred.

Physical Requirements and Environment

The physical requirements for this position include: Ability to frequently remain in a stationary position. Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. frequently. Ability to operate a computer or other office productivity machinery constantly.
