The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). In this executive leadership role, you will define and drive MDA's marketing vision, elevating Mississippi as the premier destination for business investment and economic growth. This position offers the unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the state's economic development by shaping how Mississippi is perceived by investors, businesses, and key stakeholders.

As CMO, you will lead the development and execution of innovative marketing strategies that promote the state's assets—its infrastructure, industries, and workforce—to attract targeted investments. You will guide a talented team of marketing, research, and public relations professionals, ensuring that MDA's initiatives resonate with both local and global audiences. From crafting compelling campaigns to increasing Mississippi's brand awareness, your leadership will position the state as a competitive player in the national and international economic landscape.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute forward-thinking marketing initiatives to position Mississippi as a premier destination for business investment, driving long-term economic growth and sustainability.
  • Brand Management: Lead efforts to enhance and build brand awareness, ensuring that Mississippi's economic strengths and opportunities are communicated effectively across multiple channels.
  • Team Leadership: Provide strategic guidance to a high-performance team of marketing, research, and public relations professionals, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a key liaison between MDA and external stakeholders, including investors, business leaders, and government entities, to strengthen partnerships and expand investment opportunities.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Use market research and data analysis to identify trends, evaluate campaign effectiveness, and continually refine marketing strategies for optimal impact.
  • Public Relations & Communications: Lead public relations efforts that shape public perception and elevate Mississippi's reputation as a thriving hub for business and industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, or a related field from an accredited university; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience leading national and international marketing campaigns is highly desirable.
  • Leadership: Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and advising senior executives on strategic direction, budget management, and marketing execution.
  • Marketing Expertise: Deep knowledge of marketing strategy development, brand management, and campaign execution. Mastery of digital media and data-driven campaign optimization is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in sectors such as economic development, advertising agencies, investment banking, or commercial real estate is preferred.

Salary | $110,000 to $123,800 annually
