Avoca Search has been exclusively retained by Jefferson Abington Hospital to recruit a transformative, experienced, and collaborative physician executive leader to serve as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer for the North Region of Jefferson Health, this physician leader will be an integral member of the executive leadership team of Jefferson Abington Hospital and will interact with counterparts across the North Region and throughout Jefferson Health on quality & safety initiatives, strategic growth of clinical programs, and physician engagement and education. This clinical leadership role offers a collaborative, strategic and innovative physician leader the opportunity to optimize high quality, patient centered care in a growth-oriented health system.
Jefferson Health, nationally ranked as one of the top health care systems in the country and the largest provider in the greater Philadelphia area, serves patients through millions of encounters each year at 32 hospitals and over 700 sites of care throughout the region. With more than a century of service, Jefferson Abington Hospital is a 665-bed regional referral center and the largest community teaching hospital in Montgomery and Bucks counties. The hospital sponsors five residency programs of its own and provides postgraduate medical education in affiliation with several area medical schools. Jefferson Abington Hospital offers a range of highly advanced programs in cancer, cardiac and orthopedic care throughout Abington Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia.
With a strong focus on quality, safety, and service excellence, the new CMO will provide clinical leadership, expertise, and oversight ensuring optimal evidence-based patient care and high-quality outcomes at Jefferson Abington Hospital. They will draw on a strong understanding of care delivery, capacity management, and technology to lead continuous improvement initiatives through influence and relationships. The CMO is responsible for supporting best practices in the delivery of value-based care, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and advocating for new growth in clinical capabilities.
The ideal candidate will be adept at navigating complex academic health systems and have considerable knowledge and experience in clinical operations, quality and safety, patient experience, and physician engagement. Candidates will be a visible physician leader with a transparent communication style who excels at unifying a diverse group of healthcare providers, physicians, and staff. Candidates must have an earned MD or DO degree from an accredited institution and an MHA or MBA is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience working in a complex health system is required.
