We are also highly-ranked by Castle Connolly Medical, a healthcare rating company for consumers, among the top 5 leading U.S. medical schools for training doctors.Bargaining Unit:MCJob Summary:The Department of Hospital Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Vice President for Health Sciences / Chief Medical Officer.The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team at Downstate Health Sciences University, University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Working with the Senior Leadership Team and engaging the physicians, the CMO is responsible for the centralized assessment and redesign of all systems to enhance the delivery of high quality, efficient medical care.Duties and Responsibilities Include:The CMO will provide leadership for the physicians in the creation and implementation of quality improvement at the departmental level in accordance with medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations.The CMO will be a key leader in the medical center's journey to become a highly reliable organization.The CMO will ensure UHB's readiness for all regulatory inspections through the creation and implementation of State-of-the-Art credentialing and re-credentialing process, quality measurements/outcomes systems, patient safety oversight, and educational programs.The CMO will assume leadership in initiatives to further the integration and consolidation of policies and practices at UHB, the University, and the community.The CMO will participate in the development of long and short-term strategic plans to enhance the growth of the clinical enterprise.The CMO will work with the health center Chiefs of service in the identification of needs, the development of new products and service lines or the re-engineering or even elimination of obsolete products and services.Importantly, the CMO will work with the CEO to advance physician leadership across the institution as we integrate physicians into the administrative framework of UHB.
