The OpportunityAs Osborne Association enters its next strategic phase, it seeks a Chief of Staff to further the mission by driving key functions and projects in support of Osborne's critical work. The Chief of Staff will directly report to the Chief Executive Officer and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. Working across all departments within the organization, the Chief of Staff will provide thought and project leadership on an array of evolving projects. The Chief of Staff will support collaboration and communication across the organizations and serve as a connection between senior and executive leadership, staff, and internal and external stakeholders. They will also provide governance capacity and support for Osborne's Board of Directors. The Chief of Staff will serve as a proxy for the Chief Executive Officer as needed, and will bring their excellent judgment, high emotional intelligence, strong project management, and thoughtful engagement skills to the team.The Chief of Staff position will be based in NYC with a hybrid schedule (approximately 3 days per week at project sites and/or in the Brooklyn headquarters) and requires some travel to Osborne's project sites as well as in person time with peers, executives, and stakeholders. - 8+ years of demonstrable experience managing projects and people up, down, and across; a background in nonprofit or government leadership is preferred
- Passion for systems and strategy with experience taking partially formed ideas to actionable projects
- Versatile cross-functional skills and nimbleness to move between projects and changing priorities with ease and grace
- Excellent communication skills, including the desire to listen to understand and to garner support through transparency and trust
- Astute at building relationships at all levels inside and outside of the organization including government and elected officials, and a comfort to speak on behalf of the organization and/or senior leadership as needed
- Ability to quickly learn a new organization and become more familiar with programming content
- Enjoys working behind the scenes to support vital projects and staff development
- Exceptional judgement and a high level of emotional intelligence including the ability to observe organizational dynamics and support a positive organizational culture

Core ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities of the incoming Chief of Staff include but are not limited to:Organizational Leadership and Project Management - 60%
- Support the CEO in ensuring appropriate staff input and inclusion on key decisions while working to support the removal of silos that can exist between departments and programs
- Be a recognizable leader to staff at all levels of the organization who can support them in problem solving and be a conduit for the free flow of ideas and transparency between senior leadership and program staff
- Plan staff meetings, town halls, retreats, feedback sessions, and other methods of engagement to reinforce organizational culture, values, transparency, and well-being
- Support the development and tracking of organizational goals and priorities
- Suggest refinements to organizational design including the development and implementations of systems and protocols that facilitate high-functioning organizational performance and efficiencies, and ensure a focus on DEIAB principles and Osborne's values and culture throughout the review of systems and strategies
- Manage a variety of rotating short and long-term projects and provide additional bandwidth and leadership guidance as needed
- Oversee the progress of organizational priorities including tracking and communicating progress as well as being a thought leader to solve issues as they arise
- Serve as the leadership conduit for programs that do not fall into another leadership team member's portfolio
Board of Directors Liaison - 20%
- Oversee meeting and committee preparation and planning for Board of Directors meetings
- Build and manage relationships the Board Chair, Executive Committee, and committee leaders
Communications - 20%
- Provide communications support by working with the communications team to streamline the internal and external communications strategy and events calendar, and drafting or reviewing emails, reports, speeches as needed
- Oversee and manage, with the CEO's administrative assistant, internal and external stakeholders' communications with the office of the CEO
Compensation and BenefitsThe salary range for this full-time, exempt position is between $185,000 and $195,000 and is commensurate with demonstrated experience and abilities.Generous benefits include four weeks of vacation, tuition reimbursement, a flexible work schedule, excellent Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, and a 403(b) plan with a company match.
