Growing together.Optum Financial is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO), who reports to the Optum Financial President and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring a best in class, consistent end-to-end experience to the clients and stakeholders of Optum Financial, including payers, providers, and consumers. The scope of this role will include all Optum Financial operations: account and card operations, customer service, project management, issue management, 1:1 readiness, quality and operational excellence. The COO will be a critical part of driving industry-leading, innovative solutions from creation to scale. The solutions developed in this role are crucial, with high visibility and ambitious timelines. Attention to detail is paramount, as the impact on the future of health payments and financing will be substantial. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Major Responsibilities:Lead transformation of legacy assets through automation to deliver a next generation customer experience.Manage the day-to-day operations of the business, responsible for the end-to-end experience of customers, working closely with P&L leaders and their teams.Responsible for defining the metrics that matter to drive the business and related execution plans.Lead voice of the customer/ consumer in partnership with enterprise efforts.Manage alignment sessions and represent Optum Financial in key enterprise business segments, initiatives, and tasks forces.Represent Optum Financial with key constituencies.Build and develop relationships across highly matrixed teams to ensure effective feedback loops and identify key dependencies.Oversee the integration of acquired entities, ensuring alignment with existing operations. Coordinate teams to harmonize processes, systems, and cultures. Address challenges to achieve strategic goals and maximize acquisition value.Foster a solid Optum Financial culture by promoting enterprise values and collaboration. Support talent development to enhance skills and career growth; drive employee engagement through feedback and recognition, and partner with the people team to implement retention strategies to keep a motivated workforce.You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution10+ years of experience in the financial services, payments, fintech, and/or healthcare services industries in progressively larger operations within and across businesses.10+ years' experience leading teamsDemonstrated ability to drive organizational change and lead process improvement & automation/AI initiativesSolid financial and business model acumen; solid understanding of appropriate metrics, measures, and outcomes, displaying a keen ability to work in a data driven environmentExpert collaborator, communicator, and executive presence; solid ability to communicate effectively and efficiently (both verbal and written) at multiple levels of large, complex organizationsProven ability to drive, lead, and communicate change effectively in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable within the changing environmentExperience building and maintaining connections with key stakeholders such as CEOs, CFOs, COOs, platform leaders, service providers, provider councils, strategists, growth teams, and various corporate functionsProven track record of transformational operations effortsDemonstrated ability to ensure an outside-in approachAbility to travel 25% +, including internationally Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree from an accredited institution Exemplary management and people leader skillsExpert relationship and negotiation skills *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C. Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $250,000 to $350,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
