  • A master's degree in business, finance, educational administration or a related field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible duties in fiscal and operations management disciplines are required.
  • Specific educational and/or public sector experience is desired.
  • Proven experience successfully managing multiple business functions within a large organization at an executive level.
  • Demonstrated success working with and through people, in establishing goals, objectives and action plans to achieve district goals.
Responsibilities
  • Provides oversight and management of the district's operational areas to include: Facilities & Maintenance Services, Business Operations & Transportation and School and Community Recreation.
  • Ensures organizational compliance with various legal and statutory requirements and MPS School Board policies in assigned areas of responsibility. Aligns department responsibilities with the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Establishes and maintains clear operational authoritative levels and ensures appropriate reporting relationships within areas of responsibility.
  • Builds, manages and maintains a team of highly-qualified staff prepared to perform the tasks of the operational units.
  • Serves as a key advisor to the superintendent on operational matters, compliance, efficiencies and strategy.
  • Prepares items for the MPS School Board for action, discussion and information relating to areas of responsibility. Assists in developing Board policies as necessary and provides technical expertise on assigned functions.
  • Creates and maintains a variety of reports, records and files.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other administrators and district personnel to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and exchange information.
  • Develops and prepares the annual budget for areas of responsibility, analyzes and reviews budgetary and financial guidelines and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established policies.
  • Monitors existing and proposed laws and regulations that affect the operations division.
  • Manages personnel, to include work allocation, training, and problem resolution, evaluating performance and making recommendations for personnel actions according to the policies and procedures of MPS and direction provided by the Milwaukee Public School's Board of Directors.
  • Reviews operating results, compares them with established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Works closely with other members of the executive team to develop and implement major district initiatives.
  • Seeks and implements innovative and adaptive solutions to challenges arising from fluctuating levels of funding and personnel staffing, emerging technologies, changing customer requirements and evolving market conditions.
  • A ctively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
