Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

Chief Quality Officer, Vice President in partnership with the leader of Patient Safety and Quality is responsible for the overall strategy, leadership, and operational management of the inpatient and ambulatory quality, safety programs of UCI Health. Evaluates the quality of patient care, safety, and clinical outcomes. Has accountability for understanding, coordinating, and measuring performance of internal and external quality and safety requirements. Oversees the development and implementation of a strategic vision for healthcare quality, ensuring adherence to rigorous regulatory standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Establishes data-driven quality initiatives, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, monitoring compliance with healthcare regulations and championing patient advocacy.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Skills, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of job duties
  • Seven to ten years of increasingly responsible experience in healthcare including at least five years of leadership experience in an academic medical setting
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • MD degree with significant practice experience in a board-certified specialty
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated leadership track record that shows an ability to gain credibility, influence and achieve with and without direct authority, and to work collaboratively with clinical chairs, the medical staff, and the executive team
  • Comprehensive and thorough understanding of all elements of healthcare delivery including strategy, business planning, operations, and financial management
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to innovate, encourages creative thinking, and imaginative solutions to issues or problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems by taking into account various points of view
  • Ability to address both broad and strategic issues and the management of day-to-day operations
  • Ability to act as an effective agent for change, recognizes the need for change, adapts, and inspires others to adapt
