A solid understanding of serious mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders is crucial for effectively supporting clients and their families. Strong observational abilities are essential to accurately report on individual and family functioning. The ideal candidate will excel in building and sustaining relationships with those receiving services while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethics.Proficiency in time management, active listening, and communication-both verbal and written-will enhance your ability to engage with clients and document care using electronic medical records. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate independence in performing duties, possess a valid driver's license, and be willing to travel for home visits and various AHCS sites as needed.Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Knowledge of the nature of serious mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders depending on the population served;
- Ability to observe and report accurately on the functioning of individuals and families; Ability to engage and sustain ongoing relationships with individuals receiving services; Ability to learn and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to perform Case Management services to clients; Ability to handle confidential information appropriately; Must possess time management skills; Ability to effectively use active listening skills; Ability to listen to what other people are saying taking time to understand the points being made asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times; Ability to work independently performing position duties under close supervision initially and then general supervision going forward. *Ability to document in an electronic medical record system.
