**Job Description:**

Child Care Center Cook

Under the direction of the Bright Beginnings Learning Center (BBLC) Director, the cook is in charge of the daily operation of a school based kitchen, including the planning, preparing, ordering, daily recoding and serving of all foods offered by BBLC. The Cook is also in charge of maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in a safe, sanitary and orderly manner.

**Full-Time Position (80 Hours Per Pay Period)**

**Shift: Varied hours Days: Varied**

**Wages Based Upon Experience**

**CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled**

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

* Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location

* Competent in USDA CACFP guidelines

* Ability to prepare meals in mass quantities

* Proficiently operates ovens, knives, mixers, blenders, measuring equipment, scales, thermometers, can opener, portion control device, telephone, and calculator

* Critical thinking and problem solving skills

* Time management, organizational and prioritization sills

* Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspect of the job

* Able to demonstrate differences in modified diets

* Proficient in portioning, and garnishing

* Proficient in reducing and increasing recipes

**EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES**

* Central Background Registry

* Able to read, write legibly, and converse in the English language

* Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide

* Oregon Food Handler certification

* High school graduate or equivalent preferred

* Oregon State Driver's license preferred

**EXPERIENCE**

* Two years' food services experience

* One year in childcare setting preferred
