Applications will be reviewed starting the week of 12/30/24.NATURE OF WORK:Under direct supervision, the Child Care Program Assistant II will provide exceptional childcare that enhances the lives of infants and toddlers while aiding Lead Teachers, Assistant Director, and the Director of Childcare/Preschool. The position will perform related functions for Mountain Munchkins ensuring the safety, care, and well-being of assigned children while conducting various childcare duties. This position may assist in training CCA Level I employes. Essential Functions DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be proficient in all duties, responsibilities, training and certifications standards of CCA I.
- Provides direct childcare and interacts with all preschools, toddler, and infant children; maintains and ensures the safety, care, and well-being of assigned children.
- Open and close the facility when needed.
- Executes lesson plans and activities related to a specific theme.
- Conducts assessments and observations on designated children if applicable.
- Assists in conducting parent teacher conferences if needed.
- Actively engages children with books, toys, and structured activities.
- Conducts circle time, arts and crafts, songs, and games.
- Research and execute art projects, crafts and activities that relate to designated themes.
- Supervises, monitors children's play activities and is aware of each child's location.
- Coordinates and provides lunch and snacks for children; prepares infant bottles and foods.
- Provides for the individual needs of children including changing diapers, feeding, napping, and dressing children.
- Cleans and maintains the facility and assists in providing a safe environment for children.
- Prepares daily report cards and/or other departmental documentation.
- Practices a positive, age-appropriate discipline approach.
- Provides consistent, loving care to all children.
- Promotes and observes safe work methods and uses safety equipment; secures work sites as necessary; may attend safety committee meetings, actively participates in and may conduct safety trainings.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of the team.
- Actively works to progress the Town's goal of zero waste and carbon neutrality by minimizing unnecessary consumption (of energy, water, paper, plastic, ink, etc.), seeking environmentally preferred products (e.g., reusable, recycled content, non-fossil fuel), and supporting environmental initiatives through participation, promotion, and accurate storytelling.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:The Childcare Program Assistant II position is the journey-level of the childcare job series. Employees work more independently and perform exceptional care, safety, well-being of assigned children, and exercise of more independent judgment within defined procedural limits with limited supervision. This position may provide assistance to and assist in training level I childcare program assistants. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GED is required. Childcare Program Assistant II minimum qualifications include at least 1 year as Childcare Program Assistant I with Mountain Munchkins or must already have all required licenses and certifications plus at least 1-2 years recent and direct childcare experience. All licenses and certifications must be previously met and current.Licenses/Certification(s):CCA I
- Current driver's license is required
- CPR and First Aid must be current and maintained
- Must complete Prevention of Shaken Baby, Recognition and Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect, Prevention of SIDS, Standard Precautions, FEMA and Positive Guidance Strategies within 90 days of hire
- Must complete and maintain 15 hours of required continuing education and training courses as outlined in the Rules Regulating Child Care Centers
CCA II (All of the above in good standing)
- Must complete EQIT or ECE 111
- Must have a level I PDIS Colorado Shines System
- Must complete a minimum of five (5) courses of the candidate's choice through ContinEd.com

Environmental Factors:Busy, sometimes chaotic environment. Work is performed primarily indoors with some work performed outdoors in varying types of weather.
