Oversees all activities such as meal time, restroom breaks, play time, learning time and outdoor time. Prepares and serves meals at appropriate times while meeting all guidelines.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements curriculum appropriately.
- Demonstrates alertness to actions and changes of group under care.
- Shows warmth and friendliness towards children of all ages.
- Greets and recognizes each child as he/she arrives and leaves the center.
- Ensures a safe and age appropriate environment at all times.
- Follows proper sterilization requirements of toys, equipment, bottles and dishes.
- Keep toys and materials organized and free from misuse.
- Supervises appropriately at nap and restroom breaks.
- Assists in food preparation and serving meals and snacks.
- Disciplines children according to State guidelines and recommends or initiates other measures to control behavior, such as redirection.
- Participates in fire and disaster drills.
- Remains calm and in control of an emergency or stressful situation.
- Follows policy and procedures correctly.
- Instructs the children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting and toileting habits.
- Supports children's emotional and social development.
- Documents on records for individual children as required by state and facility regulations.
- Performs housekeeping duties such as: laundry, dishwashing and cleaning of play
- Attend continuing education classes as requested and required.
- Participates in staff and committee meetings as assigned.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned requested or required.
RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:
- Communicate in an effective manner, follow written or verbal instructions and demonstrate good interpersonal skills to communicate respectfully and effectively with parents/guardians and staff.
- Completes annual education and mandatory in-service training(s).
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality in communications.
- Familiar with policies and procedures regarding reporting and release of protected health information (PHI).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Basic cooking and housekeeping skills, preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
LANGUAGE/READING SKILLS:
- Communicate verbally and in writing in English.
- Additional language of Spanish preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Must possess basic mathematical skills.
REASONING ABILITY: Employee responds to unusual or varied situations that are not covered by existing standards, procedures and precedents. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, ascend and descend stairs, possess ability to handle, finger or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. Employee must frequently be able to lift 25 pounds from the floor to waist level. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to clearly focus vision.
