Employment Status: Part-time/Full-TimeFLSA: Non-exempt/HourlyReports to: DirectorJob Summary:ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: •Always supervise children, maintaining a secure, safe environment for children to play and explore.•Supervise and train assistants in your room on policies, procedures, and regulations.•Plan and engage children in developmentally appropriate activities•Establish and follow daily schedule that incorporates child directed activity, whole group, small group, care routines and transition times.•Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children.•Plan and prepare lesson plans and activities.•Encourage children's development domains, such as language, cognitive, fine motor and gross motor. •Assist children in expressing themselves by listening, responding to and asking open ended questions or comments that extend children's conversations•Adheres to agency's confidentiality policy, professional ethics and standards, demonstrating work habits which comply with agency personnel policies and procedures•Meets and maintains minimum required training hours for licensing requirements by State of Texas DFPS, Texas Rising Star Provider Criteria•Current C.P.R. Certification and First Aid Training required for licensing by the State of Texas.•Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.•Complete necessary classroom reports. •Prepare daily reports for each child in your classroom using ProCare. •Attend staff meetings outside of work hours. •Provide positive feedback to parents. •Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals•Change diapers/ toilet train children where necessary. •Always comply with the presentation requirements set by the school. •Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school•Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church•Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees•Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits•Maintaining a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well-ordered environment•Positive interaction with parents•Attend Archdiocesan, on campus and other in-services as required•Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the DirectorIMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS: •Maintains current and accurate records according to school policy•Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning•Ability to work well with students, parents, and colleagues in an instructional setting•Ability to follow directions and handle multiple tasks•Possesses proficient technology skillsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: •Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form•Able to work well with others in a school community•Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously•Skill in job appropriate technology•Skill in critical thinking and planning•Skill in motivating and engaging students in the learning process•Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable formatMENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: •Required to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment•Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger•Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis•Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading•Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, and activities.•Be able to adapt to continuously changing, fast-paced environment and make the children's needs the primary focus. •Required to manage high to moderate levels of stress•Required to work in standard school conditionsEVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director.RequirementsPosition Requirements: Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CDA credential preferred
Experience
- At least 18 years old
- One (1) year of experience in a childcare setting

- Meet state's education criteria
- Excellent communication skills

- Have reliable transportation
- CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during job training)
- Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening
