Minimum requirements include:
- Substitute Aide: high school diploma or the equivalent; must be at least 18 years old.
- Substitute Teacher: high school diploma or the equivalent; must be at least 18 years old; must have at least 90 clock hours in Child Growth and Development, 9 clock hours of communication coursework and proof of college credits.
Approval from the Maryland Department of Education, Office of Child Care is required. These positions are considered mandatory reporters for the Department of Human Services.Substitutes will be vetted and then called to fill-in as needed. Substitutes may be hired to fill in for child care aide, child care teacher, or pre-kindergarten staff. The hourly rate of pay varies on the position filling: child care aide-$18.82/hour; child care and pre-kindergarten assistant-$20.82/hour; pre-kindergarten teacher-$22.92/hour.
