RIDGEVIEWBehavioral Health Services, a not-for-profit community mental health center based in Oak Ridge, has an opening for a Full Time Bachelor's Level Project BASIC Child Development Specialist to provide early intervention services in Morgan County schools. This position is suitable for a new graduate or early career social worker/ counselor.The Project BASIC Child Development Specialist targets children in kindergarten through third grade. The right candidate will be embedded in Morgan County schools and will provide services such as social-emotional learning groups for children and training for teachers and families. This position works during the school year only and is off during Morgan County school breaks.Ridgeview is currently offering a bonus program available after your successful 90 day orientation period in return for a one year service commitment. The program's focus is to promote mental health in children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade, as well as to identify and refer children at risk of Serious Emotional Disturbance to mental health services. The Child Development Specialist reports to the Director of C&Y Services for programmatic and clinical supervision and consists of: assessment of children at risk of mental health problems, individual and group support for students and parents, consultation to teachers, presentation of classroom programming based on BASIC curriculum guidelines, networking and referral to community resources, planning and implementation of activities that stress wellness concepts. Position will be required to maintain a positive working relationship with school systems and other community service agencies. This is a 10 month position in keeping with the school schedule.JOB DUTIESBachelor's degree in a mental health/social science discipline, Master's degree from accredited school of Social Work preferred.
