We are looking for a Developmental Therapist with a strong background in Early Childhood Special Education. This position will provide in-home developmental therapies to children 0-5 that have been identified by TEIS (Tennessee's Early Intervention System) as needing developmental services. This position will support counties surrounding the Chattanooga area.

This person must live in and be able to travel daily within the multi-county service area which includes Grundy, Hamilton and Bledsoe Counties.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Work primarily with the family to help identify ways for the child with a disability to progress developmentally and to assist in identifying a variety of strategies to meet all other identified goals.
  • Will see families according to the time frame as identified on the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
  • Will work closely with Service Coordinators from TEIS to complete services for the family.
  • Will begin services within 30 days of services being put on the IFSP.
  • Assess child upon entry, 6 months mark and annually.
  • Attend and participate in the 6-month Reviews and Annual Reviews.
  • Attend and participate in the Transition and Eligibility Meetings with the family and the LEA.
  • Complete family visit documentation within 72 hours of session.
  • Complete and turn in all assessment documentation 45 days upon entry; 30 days for 6 month and annual assessment.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree or higher is required by the state of TN.
  • Must hold a bachelors, masters, or doctorate degree in early childhood special education, early childhood education, child and family studies (child development), early intervention, or related field. Related fields would include: deaf education, visual disabilities, special education K-12 elementary education, communications disorders and speech language pathology.
  • Experience in the field of early intervention, setting realistic developmental goals and working with families towards the achievement of those goals.
  • This position will travel Hamilton and surrounding counties as designated by Director in the Southeast Region. Regular use of a personal vehicle and maintenance of personal auto insurance in accordance with TN state law is required.
