Position InformationThe Waco district is looking for a Construction Recordkeeper II, III, or IV in our Belton Area Office. Our Construction Recordkeeper team is responsible for working alongside our TxDOT project managers reviewing monthly measurements and payments, contract related documents and contract compliance.Salary Range:Construction Recordkeeper II: (A 15) $38,976 - $58,045 AnnuallyConstruction Recordkeeper III: (A 17) $42,976 - $64,469 AnnuallyConstruction Recordkeeper IV: (A 19) $48,244 - $76,028 AnnuallyWork Location: 410 W. Record Keeper 2-3Maintains construction project records and processes related paperwork; reviews and modifies contract documents to reflect changes to original agreement; monitors records to verify compliance with state and federal laws and determines payments due contractor for work completed. Work requires contact with contractors. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Con. record Keeper 4- in addition to the above:Maintains liaison with construction inspectors and contractor's staff and trains others.Essential Duties:Construction Recordkeeper II-
  • May attend pre-construction meetings to instruct contractor's bookkeeper on record-keeping procedures.
  • Prepares and submits monthly and final estimates; checks calculations against work log and estimate form to verify work is completed before payment is made.
  • Processes change orders, supplemental agreements, and extra work orders.
  • Monitors contractors' compliance with federal requirements related to Equal Employment Opportunity and wages.
  • Sets up field record books for each construction project within assigned area.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Construction Recordkeeper III-In addition to the above
  • May perform drafting, design and/or surveying work.
  • Monitors on-the-job training program and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise programs; submits required monthly reports.
Construction Recordkeeper IV-In addition to the above:
  • Maintains liaison with construction inspectors and contractor's staff to ensure project records accurately reflect changes and agreements.
  • Trains less experienced employees.
  • May perform drafting, design and/or surveying work.
  • Monitors on-the-job training program and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise programs: submits required monthly reports.
Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
  • CRK II
Experience: 1 year record-keeping, bookkeeping, or other related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis . Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
  • CRK III--2 YEARS Record-keeping, bookkeeping, or other related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
  • CRK IV--: 4 YEARS Record-keeping, bookkeeping, or other related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.Competencies:Construction Recordkeeper II-
  • Applicable testing methods, processes and procedures
  • Governmental policies and procedures
  • DBE, HUB, SBE
  • Analyzing issues, facts, and available information to develop logical solutions; researching inconsistencies of facts or data: drawing correct inferences from information and making recommendations that support business decisions
  • Writing, reviewing and revising documents to include engineering notes, specifications, standards and procedures
  • Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints and maps
  • Performing calculations using algebra, trigonometry and geometry
  • Using standard office equipment
  • Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files, and reports
  • Communicating technical information effectively
Construction Recordkeeper III-In addition to the above
  • Reviewing plans for accuracy and ensuring compliance with requirements
Construction Recordkeeper VI-In addition to the above
  • Standard procedures relative to planning, construction, and engineering fundamentals
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Sedentary work:
  • Lift up to 10 lbs. at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools.
  • Light work:
  • Lift up to 20 lbs. at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Standing-prolonged periods of time Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading.
