Primary Purpose:
Performs installation, maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair of all kitchen equipment. Assists in the operation of receiving, storing, issuing and delivering of equipment, tools, food and nonfood supplies and maintaining inventory control and record keeping, ensures safe and sanitary procedures throughout the Child Nutrition Department. This position is paid with Child Nutrition funds.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid Texas driver's license required
CDL preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of steam, electric and gas food service equipment
Knowledge of Basic Electrical, Plumbing and refrigeration systems
Knowledge of ice machines and other refrigeration equipment
Knowledge of blueprints and schematics
Knowledge of required mathematical computations and computer skills.
Knowledge of basic purchasing principles
Effective planning and organizational skills
Ability to work after normal hours and/or On Call Assignment if required
Ability to communicate effectively (electronically & verbally).
Ability to work independently.
Experience:
Five years appliance repair experience
Three years commercial cooking and refrigeration equipment experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
* Installation, repair and maintenance of cooking and holding equipment at all district kitchens
* Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on commercial kitchen appliances without instruction
* Report status of potential and/or pending problems with installed equipment to Child Nutrition Administration
* Complete repairs as requested on work orders or by supervisor.
* Drive to various locations to deliver food and nonfood supplies and/or equipment; obtain authorized signature for supplies requested.
* Ensure that all safety regulations and equipment specifications are followed.
* Verify accuracy of shipments and compare information on invoice or packing slip to purchase order; record any discrepancies or damage.
* Move food and nonfood supplies/or inventory to various locations manually and/or by operating mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack and hand cart.
* Read and interpret blue prints, wiring diagrams and possess basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and refrigeration systems.
* Operate equipment and use tools following established safety procedures.
* Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
* Maintain complete records of all inspections, maintenance, and repair work accomplished.
* Assist with purchasing procedures such as acquiring quotes and making recommendations for repairs and/or replacing equipment.
* Assist Child Nutrition Warehouse Worker with campus deliveries and accepting warehouse orders.
* Follow administrative procedures regarding work orders.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Chemical exposure (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gases, dusts, smoke, etc.); work with hands in water, works around machinery with moving parts and may work for long periods of time.
