Position Type: Child Nutrition/Food Service/CN Program Compliance ClerkDate Posted: 7/11/2024Location: EC Child NutritionDate Available: ImmediatelyClosing Date: Until FilledEAST CENTRAL INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Announcement Child Nutrition Program Compliance Clerk The position of a Child Nutrition Program Clerk is available immediately at East Central ISD. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is until the position is filled. POSITION FUNCTION AND PURPOSE: Responsible for ensuring free and reduced student status are processed. Ensures that all eligibility statuses are properly documented and communicated to the appropriate individuals. Fills in at kitchens when called upon during staff shortages. Procures and maintains an inventory of certain child nutrition equipment. Creates a customer service-focused workplace for all students, staff, and the public. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Process and file free/reduced meal applications online and paper formats as required by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) standards.Also responsible for record keeping of all related records. Process categorical or applied eligibility of allowable programs including direct certification, foster, migrant, homeless and head-start students. As well as complete DC imports and verifications. Communicate eligibility status and/or changes in status to students, parents, and cafeteria managers as well as print master list monthly. Field all calls to the Child Nutrition office. This includes calls regarding student eligibility and status as well as all parent concerns. This person will also take messages for and forward call to other members of the Child Nutrition office Handle Child Nutrition Office calendar and coordinate events with Child Nutrition administrative calendars,as needed. Perform annual verification of the NSLP program as required by USDA guidelines. Assists with planning, coordination, and set-up of Child Nutrition Department events and meetings. Attend all workshops, training, and continuing education as needed to stay current on all federal rules regarding the Child Nutrition Program. Work with attendance clerks in regards to student enrollment, withdrawals, and district reports and provide district percentage information as needed. Assist with meal account adjustments and refunds. Assist in collecting outstanding balances for meal charges. Consolidates timesheets as needed. Maintain confidentiality of information. Help promote a positive work environment where all team members provide great customer service for students, staff, and the public. Maintains effective working relationships with district employees and outside organizations and individuals to further district and department goals. Assists in the kitchen and with community events as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. NOTE: Not all applicants will be interviewed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Educational/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent Proficiency in the use of a computer and knowledge and ability to use and/or learn to use Database, Internet, Google, and Microsoft processes.This would include excel, powerpoint and word processing. Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work with employees at all levels Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and detail oriented Ability to work extended hours as needed. Ability to acquire and maintain food handler certification Must maintain required hours per Professional Standards guidelines (6 hours annually) Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District Bilingual Preferred WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Continual walking; occasional climbing, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching/overhead reaching; limited exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Work inside in a commercial kitchen environment; exposure to hot and cold temperatures, extreme humidity, noise, biological hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, work with hands in water; work around machinery with moving parts; work on slippery surfaces..
