  • Why does the job exist?The Child Legal Support Assistant II will:
    • Process the most complex child support establishment and enforcement cases;
    • Serve as a Lead Worker.
    How does it get done?The Child Legal Support Assistant II is responsible for:
    • Complex child support establishment and enforcement cases;
    • Preparing the most complex financial case calculations;
    • Appearing with the Department Attorney's in court when needed.
    Who are the customers?
    • Parties of child support cases;
    • Child Support Legal Assistant I;
    • Child Support Services Division (CSSD) management;
    • Child Support Services Division (CSSD) Attorneys.
    Ideal CandidateThe Ideal Candidate has experience:
    • Preparing complex casework and/or financial calculations;
    • Reviewing unresolved cases regarding establishment of child support eligibility and/or enforcement of court or negotiated orders;
    • Preparing petitions and motions for court hearings and legal documents.
    Minimum QualificationHigh School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) years experience in legal research or legal document preparation, accounting, finance or social health, or human service program development or delivery and/or clerical experience in a Child Support Office may substitute for education on a month-for-month basis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results. Working ConditionsOffice setting, exposure to VDT, extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. May need to testify in court hearings.
