Job Description:
SummaryAs part of a congregation staff team at the Austin Stone Community Church, the Childcare Coordinator will be responsible for safely coordinating any childcare event planned by the congregation staff team. The Childcare Coordinator position will come alongsideother ministries to provide safe and enjoyable care for children in order that their parents may be equipped, receive care, or pray and worship. The Childcare Coordinator will report to the KIDS Ministry Director for vision, development and oversight. They will work to ensure that any childcare provided for events outside of Sunday morning worship are planned and executed safely and with excellence. Essential Responsibilities
  • Serve and lead with the congregation staff team at all required events, meetings and activities
  • Communicate with the KIDS Ministry Director about childcare events and team needs
  • Maintain a calendar of all upcoming childcare events and schedule childcare contract workers
  • Ensure the space needed for childcare is reserved
  • Recruit and screen childcare contract workers to meet the childcare needs for events
  • Ensure all childcare contract workers follow The Austin Stone Child and Safety Standards
  • Ensure all childcare contract workers are paid correctly and in a timely manner
  • Arrange for food, when needed, within the budget for children and childcare contract workers
  • Ensure all rooms used for childcare are kept clean and restored following an event
  • Communicate with the KIDS Ministry team about any supply needs
  • Steward the given event budgets with fiscal responsibility
  • Communicate regularly with the person planning the event that requires childcare about needs, sign-ups, and plans
Required Qualifications
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Previous childcare experience
  • Infant / Child CPR & First Aid Certification or willing to take the course
  • Pass a screening process which includes a criminal background check
  • Ability to engage and interact with children
  • Thorough knowledge of The Austin Stone child and student safety policies, or willing to learn
CompetenciesIn order to lead effectively at The Austin Stone, a Childcare Coordinator must have the following competencies:Administration - Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement event programming. Integrate multiple perspectives and synthesize them into a cohesive plan. Strong ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, with dependability and excellence. Communication - Has clarity of speech and proper use of grammar. Demonstrated capacity to inspire, instruct, and encourage through effective communication in various settings. Able to communicate and work within a complex organizational structure with multiple layers of input. Ability to engage and interact with children in a large group setting. Detail Oriented & Organizational Skills - Proven skills in creating, implementing, maintaining, and following through on processes that ensure people are engaged, cared for, informed and connected. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Able to successfully develop new and better ways to work and promote a continuous improvement mentality.Collaboration - Collaborate across the organization and with various ministry partners. Ability to integrate multiple perspectives and synthesize them into a cohesive plan. Leadership Skills - Ability to recruit and manage childcare contract workers.   • Occasional lifting of objects or children up to 30 pounds.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as a computer keyboard, mouse, and similar machines.
