A Day in the Life of a Childcare Site Director

As the Childcare Site Director, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a YMCA childcare program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for the children. You'll manage staff, coordinate activities, and maintain compliance with all local, state, and YMCA regulations. Your leadership will contribute to the YMCAs mission of youth development and community engagement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage childcare operations and weekly program sessions
  • Supervise childcare staff and ensure effective parent communication
  • Maintain records such as attendance, payments, and incident reports
  • Ensure safety standards are met and maintain a clean environment
  • Plan and coordinate special activities, events, and field trips
  • Oversee compliance with state childcare regulations and YMCA policies

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in childcare administration or supervision
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (or willing to obtain within 60 days)
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Either at least 18 credits in a degree relevant to child development or have a New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential or School-Age Child Care Credential
  • Ability to work onsite Part-time
