Children's Behavioral Health Technician - Cottonwood Residential - Evening Shift
Location: Cape Girardeau, MO
Pay Range: $16.38-18.78/hour
Community Counseling Center offer's shift differentials for staff who work an Evening or Overnight shift at its residential facilities.
Evening Shift: + $0.50/hour per hour worked on Evenings.
Overnight Shift: +$1.00/hour per hour worked on Overnights
Non-exempt: Full Time - 40 hours/week
Evening Shift: 2:15p-10:45p
Schedule: Every other Monday and Wednesday which includes every other weekend off will need to be flexible on days during the week if needed.
Flexibility Shift -There are several evening shift available: We can be flexible with days during the week if can't work Monday and Wednesday, we do have others days that you could work!
This position requires potential candidates to complete additional and expanded background screenings through Department of Social Services (DSS). This includes an expanded background screening, in addition to the standard background check facilitated by the Family Care Safety Registry, and Fingerprinting through DSS. Due to the additional background screening requirements, this does increase the timeline to offer by ~ 2 weeks if we move forward with you for this position. Minimum Required Qualifications:
* High School Diploma / GED / HSE Required
* Preference will be given to those with previous mental health, healthcare, or experience working with youth
* Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Drivers License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCCs Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.
Also must have the following:
Reliable transportation, valid drivers license, ability to obtain a Class E license, and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must be able to pass CPR/FA training and ProACT training.
The Program
Cottonwood is a 16 Bed Residential Treatment Facility serving children and adolescent patients. The program is intended for youth 7-18 years of age. The program offers an intensive residential treatment milieu and serves an alternative to hospitalization. Services include psychiatry, individual and group therapy, recreational, nursing and medical services, family therapy and family services. In cooperation with the Cape Girardeau Public Schools, on-site educational services are provided
Your Job as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
As a Behavioral Heath Technician (BHT), you would also responsible for the oversight of the clients safety and mental well-being. This includes assisting clients with skill building, participating in groups and social activities, and intervening in crisis situations when needed. This position also has the opportunity to take the children out to various social and recreational activities such as; bowling, swimming, going to park, playing sports, etc. In this role you would be faced with challenging situations, such as de-escalating clients, however, it is a very rewarding experience in helping them reach their treatment goals.
Essential Functions
* Provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma informed approach.
* Promote and educate clients regarding activities of daily living including household management (i.e., attending to bedroom, laundry, etc.) and self-care management (i.e., hygiene, grooming, medication, etc.) tasks and responsibilities.
* Teach functional living skills such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, emotional coping skills, etc. based on the clients individual treatment plan.
* Collaborate closely with the treatment team to appropriately coordinate client care services.
* Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
* Conduct ongoing checks; including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks based on agency policy and procedure.
* Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor the condition of clients, and follow agency policy and procedure regarding medical emergencies or elopement.
* Transport clients to and from appointments as needed and appropriate.
* Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations, when needed, which may include use of seclusion and/or restrain interventions to prevent self-harm or harm to others.
* Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
* Based on need, provide seclusion and/or restraint interventions in accordance with Pro-Act guidelines and agency policy and procedure.
* Maintain certification in Pro-ACT and CPR/First Aid.
