Position SummaryTDI - the strategic advisory and risk intelligence firm - is currently seeking an experienced Chinese-Language Associate to join our Due Diligence and Investigations (DD&I) practice in our Washington, D.C. office. The DD&I practice is responsible for conducting sophisticated open-source and human intelligence investigations that directly inform our client's most critical business decisions and help them mitigate, manage, or exploit risk by providing the best intelligence available. The successful candidate will be team oriented and collaborative, have 3-5 years of experience managing multijurisdictional investigations with a particular emphasis on China and Southeast Asia, have a track record in entrepreneurial, consulting, or similar fast-paced environments, and be a creative problem-solver. The Chinese-Language Associate will lead and directly support senior investigators on complex matters including corporate fraud and white-collar crime, litigation support, market entry, and whistleblower FCPA investigations. The candidate is also expected to be proficient in Chinese and have professional or academic experience related to China, Taiwan, or East Asia. As an essential member of the DD&I team, the Chinese-Language Associate will primarily be responsible for:Primary Responsibilities
- Leading a diverse portfolio of investigative projects including but not limited to open-source and public records due diligence, market entry research, litigation support, corporate fraud investigations, etc.
- Providing leadership to and assisting in the supervision of the professional development and performance of analysts and senior analysts in conducting research, performing analysis, and writing reports for final delivery to clients primarily focused on due diligence.
- Working collaboratively with the firm's senior investigative practitioners on commercial fraud, supply chain theft, insider threat, DDOS attack, adversarial campaigns, and whistleblower investigations.
- Communicating with and presenting oral and written findings to clients and the firm's senior management team.
- Producing high-quality narrative reports that address client needs and providing solutions based on research and analysis.
- Gathering and interpreting confidential human-source intelligence within a specified time frame and budget.
- Process and store sensitive information in accordance with the Information Management System. Ensure those reporting to you process and store sensitive information, including PII, in accordance with IMS policies. Provide guidance when compliance standards are not being met. Alert Information Technology team and IT Manager when nonconformities are discovered.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following: investigative litigation support, commercial fraud investigations, multi-jurisdictional investigations, reputational due diligence, or sector (e.g., the telecommunications industry, energy, environmental activism, etc.).
- Strong project management skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
- Professional proficiency in Chinese.
Required Experience
- At least 3-5 years of previous experience conducting investigations for commercial clients and/or professional services firms (investigative, legal, accounting, or public relations).
- Bachelor's degree in international relations, political science, regional studies, business, or related area of study required, Master's degree preferred.
