POSITION: Unified Team Assistant Coach
LOCATION: Calvert High School
POSITION SUMMARY: It is the job of every assistant coach to instill positive and ethical values in student athletes through sports. The head coach is responsible for themselves, their assistant coaches and their players in the program. The program should facilitate the social and emotional growth of every student athlete while also improving athletic skills.
REPORTS TO: School Principal/Activities Director
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

* Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
* Oversee the administration of the middle school's Unified Bocce team.
* Liaison regularly with the school's athletic director and Special Olympics Maryland to ensure quality program standards are being met, and policies are being followed.
* Develop and implement practice plans in which bocce instruction is provided to all participants at least once a week.
* Organize and lead all practice sessions with the recruitment and support of assistant coaches.
* Impart the philosophy of a positive inclusive sports experience by following the principles of Unified Sports.
* Plan and manage competition strategies for individuals and the team at Unified Bocce matches.
* Handle all paperwork requirements and forms required by the school system and Special Olympics Maryland.
* If serving as a host site for a Unified Bocce match, recruit and train volunteers to manage the event.
* Attend a mandatory Unified Sports Bocce Coaches' Training.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal and/or Activities Director.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current year Extra Pay for Extra Duty Longevity Pay Schedule.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.
EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION: School Year 2024-2025

This position remains open until filled. References must be directly related to work experience and must include immediate supervisor.
