Job Description SummaryReporting to the Manager of Access Services, the Circulation Coordinator (Temporary) is responsible for providing high quality, user-focused experiences to library users at Bentley. Coordinates daily operations of front-line library services, including borrowing, reference triage, stacks maintenance, data collection, building operations, and student employee oversight.Please note: This position is part time (20 hours a week)Evenings and weekends with some holidays required; hours subject to change during academic breaks.Hours: Academic Year (39 weeks) Late August - Mid-May, Thursday 5pm-9pm, Friday & Saturday 12pm-8pm.Essential Functions:Supervises services and operations at the Library Services desk three evenings, 20 hours weekly, resulting in successful patron-focused experiences. Assists with user interactions including, handling circulation functions, reference triage, and oversight of building operations. Communicates and enforces policies, maintains routine oversight of building operations, and safety protocols to ensure the library maintains a safe and welcoming environment. Answers user questions via phone, email, and chat. Works with sensitive and confidential information. Works collaboratively to develop improvements to policies and procedures resulting in better user experience. Assists with other projects and initiatives of the department and the library broadly.Participates in training and supervision of student staff. Documents performance issues as needed.Manages building access and security during evening and weekend hours three days a week. Ensures enforcement of policies and procedures while delivering strong customer service to users and staff. Understands emergency procedures, acting as the first responder to issues within the building.Other duties as assigned.This is an on-site position.Physical/Environmental Demands: Moderate physical activity such as sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting an average of 25 lbs.RequirementsEducation: B.A./B.S. or equivalent required.Work Experience:Background in an academic library environment or librarianship preferred.
