Basic Function: The Business Analyst will play a key role in helping the NEXT CIS Project meet business, schedule, and project objectives as part of a large-scale change initiative. The Business Analyst willfocus on changes to business processes, job roles and organization structures due to the implementation of new systems and technology.
Major Responsibilities: - Leverage a deep understanding of the operations functions of a natural gas utility to assist in the design of new business processes related to the implementation of new mobile work and asset management (WAM), Sales, Service and Marketing (CRM) and utility billing systems (CIS)
- Work closely with business SMEs and cross-functional teams to identify and analyze core business processes and workflows, assist in the engineering and mapping of new business processes related to the new systems.
- Assist the business to assess the business impact of technology on their operations and develop mitigations.
- Work with NEXT Business Architect, business SMEs, and IT on cross-organizational process-related issues.
- Apply business process improvement/Lean Six Sigma best practices to the planning, implementation, and monitoring of business process changes.
- Guide business teams and recommend new/modified procedures that are designed to meet business needs, industry best practices and operational efficiencies considering client needs, process analysis, design, simulation, application capabilities and industry requirements.
- Lead the documentation and validation of business processes, ensuring end to end processes have been designed to meet the goals of the project.
- Work with project team to maintain and enhance detailed business process documentation (i.e., L4, L5) to the appropriate level of detail needed to support the business with role definition, test case preparation, training documents, and production support.
- Develop recommendations for continuous business process improvements, post-implementation adoption tracking and KPI's and maintenance of process documentation post go-live.
- Partner with other members of the change team to support change activities including communications, stakeholder engagement, impact assessments and training.
- Ensure business processes are adequately reflected in training materials and supplemental documents as needed
- Support the change team and PMO in the development of release and go live plans.
- Collaborate with the business to capture requirements for potential projects to allow for accurate scope definition, estimation, and clear expectation setting.
- Work with the business to understand and influence technology decisions and program impacts.
Experience: - Significant experience analyzing business processes and workflows, driving business process improvement in a utility company or field work environment, including work order management, scheduling and dispatch, field execution, inventory and asset management, operational inspection and maintenance programs, and supply chain management is mandatory
- Ability to understand, engineer and map complex business processes that will drive efficiencies and maximize the benefits of new technologies using tools like Visio, Miro, etc.
- Experience with leading enterprise-wide business process changes as part of a new system implementation
- Have a creative approach to developing, planning, and executing business process change specifically tailored to meet the needs of the business area impacted
- Proven ability to work effectively with project management, technical teams and effectively translate business requirements and provide work estimates
- Understanding of change management principles, strategies and tools and significant experience with execution of those strategies and tools with effective results
- Demonstrated results-oriented attitude through ability to set goals and targets and hold themselves and other accountable.
