Description / Position Overview

Records Supervisor

In this position, you will provide supervision in the Police Department's Records and ID Section. You will also coordinate assigned activities with other departments, outside agencies, and the public and provide highly responsible, complex technical support to higher level supervisory or management staff.

You must be a current City of Colorado Springs (City) municipal employee to be considered for this position.

Essential Job Functions- the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:

* Supervise the work of the Records and ID section

* Establish goals and objectives for staff; monitor progress regularly; and implement strategies to assist with goals

* Train new records and ID technicians

* Provide quality service to internal and external customers by handling complaints

* Provide guidance on all software systems

* Conduct background checks for potential employees and volunteers

* Review and correct reports and compare against other databases

* Complete IBR checks when necessary; ensure reports identified by detectives and officers are merged immediately; and assist law enforcement personnel with any questions

* Review petitions to seal; determine if charges are on the record of the petitioner; seal case report; and delete charges and all associated information upon receiving an order of seal

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

* Knowledge of modern office technology and supporting software

* Knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar

* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

This position does require shift work and must be able to work overtime as necessary.

Successful candidates will have

* Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (a high school diploma or GED)

* Three years of full-time professional experience in a related field, including one year of administrator and/or supervisory experience.

* Must be able to obtain NCIC/CCIC (OSN) certification upon hire

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

The job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a polygraph examination, drug test, extensive background check, and other pre-employment assessments.

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds constantly, and walking or standing to a significant degree.
