The TEAK Fellowship is seeking an experienced middle or high school-level instructors to teach Civics to TEAK Fellows in 8th grade. Instructors will work collaboratively as part of a team responsible for providing the curriculum structure. Teachers will teach approximately 15 students on Thursdays during the 12 week Winter semester (Jan 21 - Apr 10, 2025) at Fordham Preparatory School.The TEAK Fellowship is a ten-year enrichment program that offers New York City students from under-resourced communities intensive after-school and summer academic classes, transformational cultural experiences, secondary school, and college guidance, a vibrant internship program, and a robust support system. TEAK students earn admission/financial aid at our Nation's most prestigious academic institutions and graduate from them determined to make an impact on communities in need of their contributions and leadership.Duties include:
- Teach 1 section of Civics to 8th graders for 12 weeks from January - April 2025.
- Provide 70 mins of instruction between 4:45-6:15 pm each Thursday (1/23, 1/30*, 2/6, 2/13, 2/27, 3/6, 3/13*, 3/20*, 3/27, 4/3, 4/10) *denotes remote class
- Use Google Classroom and assign up to 1 hour of homework weekly. Collect and grade Fellow homework weekly.
- Attend pre- semester new instructor meeting TBD
- Attend 30 min weekly planning meeting
- Provide midterm and final grades, including writing student comments.
