Job Description:
Our client seeks a Civil Utility Project Manager to oversee civil utility construction projects, including water, sewage, and drainage systems throughout Hampton Roads (Norfolk, VA Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton, Portsmouth, and Williamsburg). The role encompasses full project ownership, including ensuring customer satisfaction, developing construction strategies, managing subcontractor services and material purchases, overseeing project schedules, and handling all project finances. The Project Manager will also manage problem-solving, coordinate meetings, and manage essential project documents, including submittals, change orders, and cost reports.In this role, the Project Manager will coordinate activities with the project foreman and team, while liaising between the division lead and the project team. They will be responsible for project finances and ensure that contract documents are organized and current. The Project Manager will also prepare construction schedules in collaboration with the foreman, and ensure that timelines and budgets are adhered to, making adjustments as necessary. Submittals, change orders, and subcontractor coordination will be managed by the Project Manager, who will ensure regular communication with all stakeholders. The role requires maintaining project documentation and ensuring progress aligns with safety and quality standards.The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field or have equivalent education and experience. A minimum of five years of experience in civil utility construction, particularly in water, sewage, and drainage, is required. They should also understand construction estimating, scheduling, means and methods, and industry practices. Experience managing multiple projects, excellent time management, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
