- Locates and interviews witnesses, victims, and other persons deemed to be involved in a criminal investigation; Collects evidence and records; Seizes contraband and arrests violators when necessary.
- Reviews criminal cases as assigned in determining course of action to be followed.
- Provides security, including transportation, for victims and witnesses during courtroom appearances and proceedings; transports prisoners and evidence to and from courthouse/jail complex.
- Conducts investigations of cases by collecting and analyzing data. Testifies in court when necessary and is responsible for the transfer of evidence introduced in trial.
- Photographs crime scenes and crime victims; May fingerprint suspects in order to verify identity.
- Copies existing audio and visual recordings and prepares other court exhibits using multi-media resources; Assists in preparation and presentation of courtroom trial material.
- Serves and assists with subpoenas, citations, arrest and search warrants.
- Maintains knowledge of past and current case law.
- Responds to inquiries, resolves, and/or refers to proper person or agency.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:- High School Diploma/GED.
- 5 years job related experience.
- Good computer and typing skills; working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and database software.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
- Organizational skills and ability to complete projects in a timely manner.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $28.24 - $35.30 hourly based on qualifications
